Saturday, April 27th – The Longwood Garden Photography Workshop: 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM (Cost: $100)*
Sunday, May 26th – Introduction to Digital Photography: 10:00 AM – 1:30 PM (Cost: $75)

*Cost: for Longwood Gardens, $100 (This includes covering the $25 entrance fee)

This comprehensive class is designed to equip you with the essential skills and knowledge of digital photography. Through engaging PowerPoint presentations delivered over Zoom (Usually the day before we meet), we will demystify the complexities of photography and help you grasp key concepts.

The course covers a wide range of topics, starting with an in-depth exploration of your camera’s fundamental aspects. You will learn about shooting in manual mode, aperture priority, shutter priority, and program modes. We will also discuss basic file types such as RAW and JPEG, explaining when and why each should be used.

 

Our small class size, limited to 12 participants, ensures personalized attention and hands-on instruction. You will learn how to set up and operate your camera effectively, followed by practical shooting sessions at various locations. We believe that hands-on experience is invaluable for mastering photography.

In addition to the basics, we will introduce you to the concept of exposure and teach you how to read and use your histogram effectively. You will also learn about metadata and how to interpret it to improve your images.

Composition is key to great photography, so we will delve into important design aspects and rules to enhance your image composition skills.

We will go over the options available for your camera’s lenses. We will assist you in choosing the ideal lens for your camera by presenting various types, such as wide-angle, normal, telephoto, and ultra-wide lenses.

To reinforce your learning, we have prepared assignments covering portraits, close-ups, motion blur images, and landscape photography. We will be there to assist you in capturing stunning photos that showcase your newfound skills.

Our Introduction Workshop is a 4-hour Workshop with an hour of practice

What to bring:

  • Digital Camera (required)
  • Fully charged camera batteries
  • 2 – 4 gigabytes of flash memory
  • For Workshops in Annapolis – Valid Photo Identification  (will be needed to get into certain areas and it good to have one anyway)
  • Tripod (optional)
  • Addition Lens (optional)
  • Cable Release (optional)

 What to wear if attending the optional portion of the workshop:

  • Comfortable clothes appropriate for outdoors
  • Comfortable shoes for walking around Baltimore or Annapolis

    I would like to sign up for the July 17th beginner class but I can’t tell if the class Is $225 or $75? The website says

    “Cost: $225.00 if you book with us direct the cost is $75.00. We can take cash, PayPal, credit cards or a check.”
